High above the water, here is the Citadel of Quebec, as published in September 1855 by Ballou’s Pictorial. Note the ships in the harbor at left.

From the vantage point of the “King’s Bastion,” this sweeping view of the St. Lawrence records a number of wood masted sailing ships sprinkled with a few steamboats. From the Illustrated London News (ILN), August 1860.

A “from the waterfront view” of the Port of Quebec. This was published in Picturesque America 1872/1874. Looking to Quebec from across the St. Lawrence, this exquisite engraving, also from Picturesque America, depicts a busy maritime scene.  Many attendees at the 2006 Valdres Samband stevne in Northfield, MN received a full sized copy of this at the first Friday morning seminar.
