What are PDF Files?

Unlike “regular” webpages, PDF (Portable Document Format) documents look and print the same way regardless of what kind of computer or printer is being used. PDF documents retain all the formatting of the original document, including page breaks.  Special software is required for PDF documents, but there are a variety of free readers that make it easy to view, print, search and save documents.  Once installed on your computer, any of these free readers can automatically display PDF documents whenever you click on a link to a file that ends in .pdf

If you aren't sure if you already have PDF reader software, click on the document link. If a new window pops up and the document is displayed, you already have the software you need. (Remember, pdf files download, so depending on the file size it may take time for the document to appear.)  PDF formatting was developed by Adobe.  You can download a free copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader® or learn more about using these documents by Clicking Here.
