Norway is divided into fylkes.  A fylke is often compared to a county in the US.  Each fylke is subdivided into kommunes. A kommune is an administrative district we might compare to a municipality or township in the US.  The geographic area known as the Valdres Valley is located in Oppland Fylke and includes the kommuner of Vang, Etnedal, Øystre Slidre, Vestre Slidre, Nord Aurdal and Sør Aurdal.
