Vang

Vang Church in Valdres
The Vang church, built in 1840, is set on the banks of Lake Vangmjøsa.  Built in 1840, it occupies the site of an old stave church.

The Vang Stone

Close to Vang church there is a rune stone (Vangssteinen). "Vangssteinen" is about 2 meters tall, and the front is highly decorated. At the top there is a lion figure. Below there is foliage and a ribbon. 42 runic letters are cut into the stone. The runes are translated as follows: "The Goose-sons put up this stone after Gunnar, their brother.".  There are those who translate it as Gunnar, their nephew.
